stewart smith, stewart patterns

I have been doing interesting projects for the city of New York since 1997, ranging from park bench decorations to 10' high park features, all in bronze.

This historical plaque was stolen some decades ago. Working from photos, I recreated the original, reproducing the old hand-cut font and elaborate eagle and flag motif at the top. It was placed back on the original stone in Hero Park, Staten Island.

The Sea Turtle was one of these 10' creations. This photo shows the piece on Midland Beach, Staten Island, used as the designer, Mike Browne of NYC Parks intended.

The bison is part of a playground, also on Staten Island. The base features critters mentioned in Aesop's Fables.

This is one of the many Green Man masks, about 12" high that I created for the parks system.
